Our adoption journey began well before Mickey and I even married. We were at Cancun Mexican Restaraunt during the 1992 Olympics and were talking about the Chinese Gymnist. We both agreed that it would be awesome to adopt a girl from China(since the females are disregarded there). Who knew that 15 years ago those thoughts and that talk over chips & salsa would start us with the journey and process of adoption. We got married in May 21, 1994. Our first son Zachary, was born November 6,1998. Our second son Jared, was born December 12,2000. And our daughter Olivia was born on March 16,2003. We have been so blessed with 3 healthy children, who would have thought we needed any more?
It was a Sunday night in May 2006, a Bethany Christian Services social worker had come to speak and share a video. The video was titled "the lost girls of china". Mickey asked the social worker (Mary) who would in 6 months become our social worker to borrow it to show me. He brought it home, days later I watched it, and would consider maybe the possibility. December 2007 I was searching the internet and Bethany's site, in which I decided to request additional info for China Adoptions. Mickey stumbled up on me and asked me what I was doing, and he said he had requested info the day before on the same website. I knew at that moment, that God had called us to adopt. The seed he planted 15 yrs ago was slowly being cultivated in both of us. You never know what God is going to do in your lives if you just listen. (And Mickey and I both heard him calling LOUD & CLEAR!)
We met with Mary at Bethany and started the process of ALL the paperwork. We finally finished in May.
